Australia-US minerals deal crucial to stop ‘dominant’ China holding the world to ‘ransom’

Sky News host Peta Credlin has discussed the importance of Australia’s critical minerals deal with the US amid China holding the “world to ransom” as the “dominant supplier”.

“It's worth exploring how Beijing has deliberately made itself the world's dominant supplier and is currently threatening, through exports controls, to hold the rest of the world to ransom,” she said.

Ms Credlin highlighted how it was China’s goal to make itself “independent of the rest of the world" and to make "the rest of the world dependent” on it.

“Rare earths have been central to this strategy; and other countries, especially the US, have been grotesquely slow waking up to China's game.”
