President Donald Trump doubled down a day after saying that "maybe" Americans would like a dictator.

During a Tuesday cabinet meeting, Trump slammed Democratic governors for criticizing his threat to send the military into cities.

"I watched a man from Maryland who said to me, you're the greatest president," Trump said of Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, a Democrat. "Governor Moore, has anyone heard of him? He's another hopeful for president. I don't think so."

"But then he goes on television and says, oh, Trump is a dictator, he's a dictator," the president continued. "So the line is that I'm a dictator, but I stop crime. So a lot of people say, you know, if that's the case, I'd rather have a dictator, but I'm not a dictator."

On Monday, Trump complained that Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, another Democrat, had suggested he was a dictator.

"A lot of people are saying maybe we'd like a dictator," the president claimed. "I'm a man with common sense and a smart person."
